“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, said Jojen. The man who never reads lives only one.”

– George R.R. Martin, A Dance With Dragons –

My parents used to read me stories at bedtime  when I was a little child, I have this vivid memory of me listening and dreaming: some nights I was travelling with pirates searching for lost treasures or going around the world in 80 days, other nights I was a prince saving his beloved from dangerous creatures. But some nights, that ones that I recall better, I was just me, scared by the horror stories of Goosebumps which I loved as a kid.

I can’t remember the first time I read a book, but I can certainly recall the first book I read alone, and which I read again from time to time when I feel that need that only this reading can satisfy: Le Petit Prince. This book is the start of one of the greatest loves of my life, called literature.
Obviously I didn’t understand the depth of the book when I was in the first grade, but I became to appreciate it in its whole complexity when I grew up.

The funny thing is that when I started reading I couldn’t stop doing it, so I read a lot of great stories of love, adventures, fantastic exotic worlds, enchanted lands far far away and at some point, I don’t know when, I don’t know why, I decided that reading just wasn’t enough, I had to write my own stories, create my own magical worlds rich in eccentric characters, brave princes and stunning princesses.
When I started writing my only scope was to deliver to the real world all the fantasies that were wavering in my mind and then happened something amazing: I discovered I had an inner necessity to express my deepest emotions through words, it came out naturally, without thinking or forcing myself to do it.
First I approached novels, but very soon I found out the power of poetry, which became my favorite.

Everyone has something they are not able to say out loud, poetry is how I can give voice to those thoughts.

Here are some of my poems, as you will notice they are written in Italian, that is the language in which I can best express myself, but I hope I’ll write soon some in English…

And if you like them, you could buy my ebook “Frammenti d’anima” at Amazon. cover
